Just so you know what your child did today, here is a brief run down of what took place:
We began class with our opening exercises.
- We sang, "Here we are together".
- Did our weather bear.
- Pulled songs from the song apron and sang those.
- Went over the rules. (I plan to review these rules at the start of each class.)
- Read a book ("The New Bear at School") and talked about being friends with everyone class.
We then went to the kitchen table to worked on our "All About Me" paper. We measured their height and weight and talked about the answers to all the questions although the kids obviously had a hard time writing the answers. I figured the parents could help them with that part.
We then worked on our numbers. I gave each kid a number and asked them to put themselves in order. We did this a couple of times and then laid them on the floor and jumped to each one like a lily pad - counting as we went. I then laid the papers around the room in random order and the kids had to find the next number to jump to. My plan was to get to number 20, but I think getting to number 12 was pretty good.
We then went outside and played on the trampoline, swingset, and with the dogs.
After that we came in and did our sticker number chart.
The kids then went upstairs for some free play while I made a lunch of mac and cheese and octodogs.
Then the parents came and the party was over. :)
We really had a great time today and I look forward to being with them on Thursday. Thanks for letting them come over.
