Merry Christmas!!!

I love these kids.  They are so much fun.  We had a great day at our preschool Christmas Party!

We read Christmas books, played "Where's Santa's Sleigh", Pin the nose on Rudolph, Freeze Dance, made Christmas Cards, and even a special gift that will come later.

Some funny things said today included:

Kaiya and Elizabeth were playing babies and decided to put them under their shirts so they could pretend they were pregnant.  Kaiya explained to me, "Mom, I need to practice having a baby in my belly so that when I'm married I will be a good mom."  Elizabeth agreed and then added, "Kaiya, let's pretend to be sick.  Then we will really have babies in our bellies."  So true. :)

Later today, I was introducing our dance/freeze game and asked, "What happens when it gets really cold outside?"  Cami yelled, "Mosquitoes die!"

Thanks everyone for a great semester of preschool.  The kids are wonderful and I feel so blessed that both Kaiya and I have such great friends.  Merry Christmas Everyone!

The Letter E

We had a great time at preschool on Tuesday although we really missed Cami and Logan. Hope you guys are doing okay.

This time we learned about the letter E.
After doing opening exercises (which included some Halloween songs - can't wait for Halloween!) we went to the table and worked on creating the letter E out of popscicle sticks.

We then made elephant puppets and elephant posters. The kids did great jobs on these things.

We then partied outside before coming in for lunch.


Time goes by way too fast during preschool. The kids are great! Thanks for letting them come over!

The Letter C

I know this is a bit late, but I wanted to write up a review of preschool at my house last week.

We learned about the letter C. After doing our opening exercises, we read a book about a crocodile looking for his mommy.

We then played of game of "Can you C the Cs?" where I had hit items that began with the letter C around the house. The kids found things like cat, computer, crocodile, camera...etc. After discussing these C words, we went to the table where the kids drew their favorite C word and practiced writing the letter C.

We then pretended to be cats and other c words. Of course we had to play a round of "hide and Ceek".

We went back to the table to worked on a clown craft where they had to color, cut, and glue. I think they did pretty good with this.

We made cookies and then had lunch. Time goes by way too fast with these cute kids. Thanks for the fun!

First Icecream Party

Hey Everyone, it's the end of the month and the end of our rules chart - which means.... icecream party for the kids. We will have it on Tuesday at Ginger's house. Meet there around 12:00 or so. It should be fun for the kids and the parents! See you there!

THis week preschool

This week was really fun! The kids play together really well and they love to learn. I was impressed.
- We played for a few minutes while everyone got here and then sang songs from the singing apron with their carpets. That went really well and they enjoyed it.
- We also sang extra activity songs with a fun cd that we have. Everyone's favorite was animal action. We pretended like we were all sorts of different animals.
-Tuesday was rained out for playing outside but Thursday we played some scooters and bikes out front.
- We did number tracing which the children were very good at and they all got to pick their favorite numbers to make with fruit loops.
-We played UNO attack for the colors and numbers (we just ignored all of the skips and other cards) and it went really well.
-We also had story time and a lot of dancing time.

I had a fun week, what a great group of kids! Sorry my camera broke I'll do pics next time.

Sept. 2 - Number Recognition and Writing

Today was another great day with the kids. We started out with free time in the toy room until all the kids arrived. Once we were all together and we cleaned up the toys, we did opening exercises:
- "Here we are together" song
- Song Apron
- Weather Bear
- Review of Rules Chart
- 2 books ("Llama, Llama, Red Pajama" and "The Very Cranky Bear" - two of our favorites.)

We then personalized our carpet squares for hours of future use. After that we colors a few knights and princesses so that we could paste them on the preschool box (which is abnormally large. If anyone has any better solution, please share.)

We then turned to our actual lesson for the day. The kids were given their number/alphabet puzzle and asked to just color the numbers. I can tell that numbers might be something that we revisit at some point. While the kids can count pretty good, their recognition of numbers still needs work.

We then put our numbers to use by playing hide and go seek - which the kids LOVED of course.

We came back to the table and worked on counting and writing our numbers with the second handout. Writing numbers might be a little too old for them. Although I gave each student a number strip that they could copy the number from, it was still very difficult for them to write their numbers.

We then had lunch - which they were all very excited about. I think they felt very old and mature eating their our lunch. At one point they were all quiet. I think they were pretty hungry.

After lunch and clean up we went outside and played hopscotch - again to practice our number recognition.

Then the parents came. I have tell you ladies, that I LOVED having the kids over this week. It gave me an opportunity to get to know each one and I love them all. They are as sweet and as mannerly as anyone could ask. They are wonderful children. Thank you for bringing them to my house and having preschool with my little one. I look forward to this school year with you all.
